Night Journey to Asahan — Exploring Gunung Ledang Foothill

Asahan – Gunung Ledang – Tangkak – Melaka

On April 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM,

I left Tangkak and headed toward Asahan to visit a friend who runs a glamping site at the foot of Gunung Ledang (Mount Ophir). I planned to spend the night there and enjoy a break from city life.

I started this journey with a spirit of exploration. Although the destination wasn’t far on the map, it felt unusually long — maybe because it was getting darker, or perhaps I was just eager to arrive. The further we went, the fewer cars we saw. The road became quieter, lined with trees, and surrounded by the sound of the evening countryside.

📍Laman Tiga Budaya — A Symbolic Landmark

In Asahan, near the foot of Gunung Ledang, you’ll find a unique cultural landmark: Laman Tiga Budaya, or the “Plaza of Three Cultures.” This site symbolizes the harmonious blending of Malaysia’s three main ethnic groups (Malay, Chinese, and Indian), and it’s also known for marking the cultural intersection of Johor, Melaka, and Negeri Sembilan. Standing here, you can almost feel the interwoven heritage in the air — a truly rare cultural spot in the state of Melaka.

🕢 7:30 PM — Arriving in Asahan

Around 7:30 PM, we finally reached the town of Asahan. It’s a quaint and quiet town, with classic charm. The streetlights were fully lit, but the roads remained mostly empty. On both sides, we saw countless durian trees — it’s not the season now, but when the time comes, this area must be a paradise for durian lovers.

By 8:00 PM, we arrived at the Gunung Ledang foothill area. In the next video, I’ll show you more of the glamping site and share the peaceful surroundings of this legendary place.
