Tourism Industry Leaders Discuss Malaysia Tourism Development, Miri & Bintulu Tourism Opportunities, Student Tourism Education Programs and Future Collaboration
PUTRAJAYA, 22 May 2026 — Following the successful completion of the 3rd EXCO Meeting of Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) held at The Everly Putrajaya, MITA EXCO members paid a courtesy visit to Chiew Choon Man at his office in Putrajaya.

During the meeting session, MITA President Mint Leong introduced the backgrounds and tourism industry experiences of each EXCO member to the Deputy Minister. The session created a positive and professional environment for stronger cooperation between tourism industry players and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

It was my first opportunity to personally meet YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man. I found him to be a very energetic, friendly, approachable, and visionary young leader who showed genuine interest in the future growth of Malaysia’s tourism industry.

Throughout the discussion, several valuable tourism development ideas were presented by MITA President Mint Leong, especially involving tourism opportunities in Miri and Bintulu, Sarawak. The Deputy Minister responded positively to these ideas and encouraged further discussions and follow-up actions to help strengthen tourism activities in Sarawak and other states in Malaysia.
One of the highlighted proposals was the idea of organizing tourism education exchange programs involving students from different states in Malaysia. This initiative aims to promote tourism awareness, cultural understanding, domestic tourism participation, youth engagement, and educational tourism activities among younger generations. The Deputy Minister expressed strong support and interest toward this meaningful proposal.
As the founder of PusatPelancongan.com, I also took the opportunity to share my tourism promotional song titled “Boleh Boleh Melancong Di Malaysia” with the Deputy Minister. Through music, social media, short videos, and digital tourism promotion, I hope more local and international travelers will discover the beauty of Malaysia, including eco tourism, food tourism, island tourism, cultural tourism, nature tourism, and community tourism attractions throughout the country.

After the official discussion session, all attendees gathered for a memorable group photo session together with the Deputy Minister.

I was also honored to present two boxes of famous Johor traditional Tau Sar Pneah (豆沙饼) to YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man. The Deputy Minister happily shared that he enjoys eating Tau Sar Pneah. After lunch, he immediately tasted the well-known delicacy from Johor.
All attendees later enjoyed lunch together at the Deputy Minister’s office meeting hall, where Malaysia’s iconic Nasi Lemak was served. The warm and friendly atmosphere reflected the unity, harmony, and cooperation spirit shared among tourism industry leaders in Malaysia.
As a tourism industry player from Johor, I sincerely hope the Deputy Minister will continue supporting and paying attention to the development of tourism projects in Johor, including local tourism products, eco tourism destinations, cultural attractions, tourism digitalization, travel events, food tourism, and community-based tourism initiatives.
The courtesy visit concluded at approximately 1:00 PM.
Malaysia’s tourism industry continues moving forward positively through stronger cooperation between government agencies, tourism associations, tourism operators, travel agencies, tourism content creators, and digital tourism platforms such as PusatPelancongan.com.
